Our NYS Certified Adaptive Physical Education teacher provides modified physical education instruction to meet the individual needs of each student.
Library/Media Center:
Our state of the art children's library offers fiction and non-fiction children's books, educational software, a story center, and parent resources.
Incredible Years:
A research-based social skills curriculum provides training to students, parents, and staff to improve social, play, and interpersonal development.
Saturday Enrichment Program:
This program is designed for parents and students featuring activities including story and music time.
Parent Education Workshops:
These workshops feature NIS staff and outside speakers and are offered during the day and evening.
STEM Program / Outdoor Classroom:
Children are introduced to STEM concepts while learning about nature and the outdoors.
Animal Assisted Intervention (Pet Pals):
Specially trained dogs work with students in need of motivators to meet their goals, and who aren't progressing at the desired rate using typical means of therapy.
Pet Therapy:
Cetified pet therapy dogs visit all students in their classrooms.
Fun for All Sports Program:
Students who are slated to graduate can enroll in a basic sports skills class after school.
Super Swimmers Program:
This adaptive swimming program allows children with autism, developmental delays or physical impairments to experience swim with the extra support of 1:1 assistance from an NIS staff member.
Peer Modeling Program:
This program allows with and without disabilities to learn with and from one another in a supportive setting.
Respite Program:
This program allows parents and caregivers to drop their children off during certain designated times outside of school hours for much-needed respite.
